John Pitroff, Peer Support Specialist

Hi, I'm John.  I am 38, and I was born and raised here in the Berkshires.  I have previously worked for the Brien Center Crisis Team at the Berkshire Medical Center, as well as for Keenan North.  Peer work is the most fulfilling work I have ever done in my life and I am happy and fortunate to be able to share my hope and experience with others and feel blessed to be working with such a great team at Love of T Foundation.  I believe that nothing is wasted, and my struggles and depression have only in the end brought greater good through patience, hope, kindness, and love.  I look forward to being able to share as much love as I can with those around me, especially those who are struggling, in order to pass on something positive to take into the future.

Serena Johnson, Managing Director

Serena joins Love of T with over six years of non-profit experience. A native of Los Angeles, she worked in the arts building out fundraising infrastructure culminating in a $3 million capital campaign to build a new theater in Glendale, CA. In 2020, she turned her focus towards supporting others on their own mental health journey when she was diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety. As a child of addiction, she understands first hand how a lack of mental health support can impact one’s ability to thrive in this world. Serena is deeply passionate about connecting people to the services they need in a world where those services are woefully under-provided.

Colleen Campbell, Peer Support Specialist

Colleen Campbell is currently a Licensed Practical Nurse working in Behavioral Health at the local hospital. She has four years of experience working as a peer worker. Colleen worked for a year at The Recovery Learning Community, a peer led center in downtown Pittsfield. There she held space and welcomed community members that needed support, along with co-facilitating support groups such as Alternatives to Suicide and Hearing Voices. Colleen is a Certified Peer Specialist and worked for 3 years for The Brien Center’s Crisis Team where she worked out of the Psychiatric Emergency Room at the hospital. Colleen notes that the magic of peer work is “priceless”, that her own positive experience with peer support set the drive to connect with others in the setting.

Colleen practices empathy and compassion to those she supports, along with respecting that each individual is self-determined in their own recovery process, and that there are many paths in recovery. In her free time Colleen likes to hike, go mushroom hunting, take nature photography, and see live music.
